Anyone might have an idea why every time I save a layered .png file
when I or anyone else opens it it is merged?

Doing this in psp 9

If you save in png or jpeg it merges your layers Bobbie, save it in a psd this way your layers will remain separate.

I was going to say the same thing as Elaine. Save it as either a .psd or .psp or .pspimage file. All of those will keep the layers intact. :)
