Choosing Colors

I believe some people have an eye for color and some don't. I think I fall in the middle but dang, when it comes to this digi, stuff the color selection as far as papers, etc. goes I seem to be missing the boat. KWIM? I can be kind of anal retentive about certain things and I believe this is one of them. Will I have to resort to changing all my pics to b&w?
So, any thoughts or ideas?

I'm with you!! I feel I'm not all that good with color either. I'm constantly questioning whether I'm using the right colors or not. I tend to pic colors out of the photo and use that as my basis for finding the right papers / elements to use. Sometimes I have to recolor but I usually dig thru all my supplies before I go the route of recoloring. I wish I knew more of good colors that offset each other but I think that's why the Designer's do what they do best....making kits with colors that go well together.

I agree, it can be hard when you are trying to exactly match your layout colors to your photo colors. You don't, however, always have to match (I have a paper scrapping friend who feels she does, and drives herself insane sometimes - no recolor option with paper, LOL)

A little knowledge of complimentary colors can be helpful, try using a color wheel, just plug in the main color you are working with and it will pull up colors that work well with that. Here's a free one ...
