As Bren, my lo is ready!!
This is a beautiful kit. Can't wait to get started!
Mine is done!!! Waiting until the gallery is open. Could not believe how quickly this one went together. Thanks for a beautiful kit to work with, Andrea.
At first, I had a little trouble figuring out how I would use the kit. Then ... once I started dropping papers and elements into pages of my scrapbooking software, i almost couldn't stop. In fact, I think I will be going back to the kit and keep using it until the next round kit is available ... well, supposing I "make it" to round 2 ... LOL!
I made lots of pages, thinking I would pick out my favorite at the end and decide which one to upload for the week's challenge. **phew** it was a lot harder than I anticipated. I finally narrowed it down to 3 or 4 of the LO designs as appropriate for the challenge but then had to pick just one. Some of my other LOs using the kit are uploaded to my member's gallery and more will be added in the next day or so. :-) (I almost exceeded my daily limit of uploads this afternoon! LOL)
Then, I started roaming the challenge gallery and am so impressed with how many different ways everyone has found to use the kit. It is amazing to see all the variety there.
Thanks Andrea for the awesome kit and thanks GDS for the opportunity to use it!
(Now to go re-figure out how to show off my LO on my blog -- I need to start a tech cheat sheet or something so I can do these things more than once without pulling out my hair -- it is going gray and all the stuff that grows in new is definitely gray! Don't need more gray!)
as for using set techniques -- well, I agree, we should be showcasing the kit, so techniques might not be a good idea -- especially since I do not use PSE (even though I do own it and very rarely use it to convert layered psd templates so I can use them as png layers in my software -- one of my pet peeves about templates ... especially those labeled as including pngs but turn out to be one layered file instead of a set of separate pngs ...). Since I do not use PSE, I do not have the burn, dodge and lots of other features a lot of scrappers use. And I am sooooooooo impressed with what they accomplish using PS and PSE! I am amazed at their patience and skill. Then again, my scrapping software has features not available in PSE and it would be unfair to ask a PSE user to do some of those techniques. So, techniques are "good" if explained in the notes about the LO.
Also, someone mentioned that they do not like to alter the kit contents -- especially to recolor items. I think this is okay -- one of the real value points of digital over traditional paper scrapping -- the ability to recolor. Almost every scrapping and graphics program has recoloring options. As long as this is noted in the description of the LO, then the buyer is aware that the kit is different from what is seen on the LO.
A beginner digi-scrapper may need a tutorial on how to recolor, how to use the various blending modes, etc. i personally have a huge problem with my software dealing with items in a kit that have been so desaturated that there is no color to adjust. An earlier version of StoryBook Creator allowed me to make adjustments but the version I am now using (3, even though a version 4 is available) does not allow for those kinds of color adjustments.
This Challenge is awesome. The kit is fun to work with. And like I already wrote, I am just amazed at the huge variety of LOs based on the kit. WOW! Looking forward to seeing everyone's work as the weeks go on!
Wow....the gallery is amazing!
You all Rocked this kit!
Round One is officially closed, and I am submitting your entries to the Judges!
Good Luck Everyone!
