In about 52 minutes we'll get going on the first GDS Speed Scrap of 2009! Can't wait to see who comes!

Starting at the top of the hour, I will post your first instruction, followed by 1 more instruction every ten minutes through the hour.

At the top of the second hour. I will post the 7th and final instruction and then you'll have 1 additional hour to finish and post your LOs.

(I will allow a 15 min. grace period for gallery posting purposes. The gallery may slow down when we were all trying to post at once!)

If we have any other technical difficulties, I might also allow a few extra minutes. I will let you know.

Please note that prizes will not be given out to entries posted after this time, although we would still love to see what you have come up with!!

You must post in your GDS member gallery AND link back here in the forum. If you do not post back here I will not know that you have participated and you will not be able to receive the prize. Maybe soon we'll have a Speed Scrap gallery for you to post in! ;)

Some important things to remember to make the Speed Scrap go a bit smoother:

- The instructions are all pretty self-explanatory, but remember that you can interpret them creatively. I may be an Army wife, but I'm no drill sergeant! Do the best you can on the instructions, but don't freak out over them. Be creative! You won't be disqualified!!

- You can use a template if you want.

- goDigitalScrapbooking products are NOT required, but of course, we love it when you use them!!

- I will re-cap all the instructions again each time I post a new instruction.

- For each instruction there must be a different element. You may not use the same element to fulfill requirements for 2 different instructions.

Please don't stress! Speed scraps are fun. Just take the instructions to mean what YOU think they mean and have fun!!!

PLEASE, PLEASE REMEMBER - post back here when you are done so I will know you are playing along!!

Hi Shannon.

Silly Bean
01-09-2009, 05:03 PM
Yeah it's hard to have a speed scrap in the chatroom. This way you can read all the posts, in the chatroom you can't.

Just a few tips, press F5 to refresh, and you can go to your Options, under Quick Links at the top, and have your forums settings set to display 40 posts. Those two things help a lot. Oh, and save save save!!

Everyone ready?

Thanks. This is my first so neubie. How long do we have to scrap?

Awesome, welcome! I like to make these a little challenging to help people think a little outside their usual box. :) I'll be calling out steps every ten minutes for the first hour (so that's 7 steps total) and then you'll have an hour or so after the final step to finish your layout. So all in all, about 2 hours. :)

K, it hasn't been ten minutes yet, but just to almost catch up here's the next:

1. Open a new 12x12 document. Select an even-numbered amount of photos for your layout.

2. Arrange the photos so that each photo is overlapped by at least one other photo. Feel free to use a multiphoto template if you like. And the photos don't have to all be the same size or anything.

Silly Bean

Seems we should maybe have a place on the forum here for everyone who's doing 365 to share their stuff. It would be neat, even if just a blog train...

Silly Bean
01-09-2009, 05:20 PM
1. Open a new 12x12 document. Select an even-numbered amount of photos for your layout.

2. Arrange the photos so that each photo is overlapped by at least one other photo. Feel free to use a multiphoto template if you like. And the photos don't have to all be the same size or anything.

3. Choose an odd-numbered amount of patterned papers. These will be the only papers you'll be choosing for this layout. And yeah, that means no solids, lol. It'll be fun!

mbm69
01-09-2009, 05:20 PM
I have my 365 pics only on facebook. I don't think I could handle a blog

JewelTheQueen
01-09-2009, 05:20 PM

Yeah no kidding, I think I'll do blog posts every few days. The blog is the easiest for me since I'm already set up on Blogger with my other 2 blogs, lol. Plus there are free programs like Windows Live Writer that allow you to make a blog entry from your computer without being in Blogger, and they post it for you and all that. And Live Writer is much more user-friendly when it comes to writing posts than Blogger is. It'll help keep me from getting burnt out on blogging, I hope. :)

so do grungy papers count as solids or patterns?

mbm69
01-09-2009, 05:26 PM
Well, I'm sticking to my grungy papers that are kinda patterned!

mosser77
01-09-2009, 05:26 PM
I upload all my photos to Picasa (highly recommend it - it's FREE!), and since it is a google product, blogging the pic is as easy as clicking one button in Picasa. So far I've been keeping up within a day or two. Hope it lasts!!! LOL

Silly Bean
01-09-2009, 05:28 PM

It's patterned if you can see a pattern in it. If it's just grunged, then it's still like a dirty solid. But if you're looking for something that's almost solid, then you can go with a light pattern. :)

K, last step, and after this you'll have an hour, and maybe 10 or 15 minutes after that, to finish up your layouts and post them in the gallery. Don't forget to put a link in this thread so we can all see it and you can get credit! :)

1. Open a new 12x12 document. Select an even-numbered amount of photos for your layout.

2. Arrange the photos so that each photo is overlapped by at least one other photo. Feel free to use a multiphoto template if you like. And the photos don't have to all be the same size or anything.

The way I do it is, when you're viewing your image, click on the speed scraps gallery link, then right click your thumbnail that appears in the gallery, choose "copy image location" then when you're composing your post you click the button that looks like a mountain, highlight what's there, and press ctrl + v.

I really love these speed scraps. This is only the second time, but I really love them. It's a really good way to bond with people who love to do the same thing I do.

Oh yeah and then when you've got the code there in your message, you highlight it and click on the link icon, looks like a world, and in that box you can type the link for your layout. That way the thumbnail is clickable. Hope I'm making sense!

I had a feeling someone would say they're on a mac, lol. You could just type the code in I think. Not sure how to get the image properties since you don't have a right click, but there has to be some way. If it helps, here's what the code looks like: (Just change the { to brackets)

{img}link to the image{/img}

and if it's clickable it looks like this:

{url=WHERE YOUR LAYOUT IS IN GDS}{img}IMAGE LOCATION{/img}{/url}

Ooh ooh I googled finding image properties with a mac and found two ways:
1. To find out, hold down the control key and click on the image. Choose Copy image address, it will be put into the clipboard. Then just paste the image link. (NOTE: Please upload it into and image hosting site (ie. www.photobucket.com). If you don't, you will be putting extra bandwith on the site you got it from, which if they don't have unlimited bandwith, they would either have to pay extra, or have their site shut down.)

and

2. Another thing you can try is under the VIEW menu select "status bar"
this will display a status bar at the bottom of the safari window. once you mouse onto the image look at the status bar it'll tell where it links to.

{url=WHERE YOUR LAYOUT IS IN GDS}{img}IMAGE LOCATION{/img}{/url}

try Control Click and "get info"
that might do it
dh uses a Mac and says you can get right click using the Mac, but you have to set that up as a preference

I wouldn't manage well without right click!

Lol, you're funny. I like the reliability of a Mac, but it's just not compatible enough with things I do. Dual platform would have to be the way to do it. :)

Well, I'm not going to get mine done tonight. The computers are just not working with me tonight. lol.
I was working on our laptop with just a few kits, then hubby finished what he was doing on the desktop that has all my goodies. But after the laptop finally saved my part of layout on it, now the desktop front USB drives arn't working. And now the time is up. Oh, well... next time. I'll finish it up tomorrow when I can use a USB on the back. Now I have to get the little one to bed. Great challenge, really have to get thinking on this one. Thank you for hosting it!
