Remember that all participants get all quickpages submitted for this exchange so you'll get an entire album back! Check out our Quickpage Exchange Gallery (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=570) to see what the participants have created.

Guidelines:

Each participant will submit at least 1 quick page but not more than 2 using this kit only (but you may include any commercial use supplies as well).
Sign-ups are requested for this so that we know who is working on pages. Just post a note here to say you are planning on participating is enough.
Layouts should be created and saved at 12" x 12" and 300ppi starting with a transparent background.
If you are familiar with creating a quick page in a transparent .png file, please submit it in that format.
If you are not, we have a couple of tutorials to help you in this area: Paint Shop Pro (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1399) & Photoshop (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1385)
If you are unable to create a .png file, please design your quick page by creating your layout and using a white or black area (whichever is of most contrast to your layout) for the photo placements. Save your layout as a flattened .jpg file at full resolution (unless you are submitting a png file already). Please share this file and then post in this thread that you need help poking the holes for the pictures and I will do so.
Please name your files as follows to help me track these easier. YourForumName_KitName_QP.png so as an example, mine would be HollyS_misspriss_qp.png.
Save a preview of your quick page at 600x600 and upload it to the Quick Page Exchange Gallery for all the oooohs and ahhhs!
I will need the preview .jpg at 600x600, and either the .png or .jpg file at the full 12x12 size for each quickpage you submit.
NEW***: In an effort to get you the albums much quicker after the exchange is over, I'm implementing a new way for us to share the files.
- please zip up your files all together so you are only uploading one file. My preference would be not to zip up a folder holding your files but only the files itself. That way when folks unzip, they won't get all these subfolders created.
- click http://www.4shared.com/dir/11517076/bcf3a8f3/hs_misspriss.html
- toward the bottom of the screen you will see an "Upload Files" small window. Click the browse button inside there and navigate to your zip file and choose that to upload.
- Your computer will then upload the file so it may take a minute or two. After the upload is completed, you will not see anything in this folder even to tell you it was successful unfortunately but never fear, I will let you know if something went awry.
- Once the exchange is over, I will figure out who hasn't uploaded or has a problem with their files and when all is good will make it so that you can see all the files that everyone uploads and then you can download them!
The submission deadline for this round is end of the day on Friday, January 16th.
The deadline to upload your zip is Sunday, January 18th.

LOL Now I think I have figured out how to load it to the gallery - it's in progress now. But I have no clue how to load it to 4shared. Will have to work on that next week unless I get some time tonight. Heading out of town for a long weekend.

I'm presuming you mean as you went to "poke the hole"? If so, be sure to keep your layer file. What software are you using?

I am using PSE 7. I saved it in jpeg form & then tried to take out the hole. That did not work, so I went back to psd & selected the circle to cut...that is where my problem was. That did not work so then I used the eliptical marque tool and cut it out and then saved to png. I uploaded it to you (I hope)...so maybe you can tell me if it ended up alright. I think I saved it at the right size & pixels. I hope i did. this is my 1st time doing a quickpage. Thanks for you help.

OK, I am by no means an expert (these are my 1st QPs), but I use PSE 7.0 and had this problem with my 2nd layout--one of my holes had part of the design connected, and wasn't making a perfect picture hole. I had to remove some layers (like your leaves at the bottom), then re-save as a jpg, then do my rectangle cut (had to use the rectangle, not the magic wand), then re-save as a PNG, where you can re-add your leaves over the frame, then re-save again.

Then I would get confused as to whether I was using a PSD, JPG, or PNG file. I then found out the hard way that just because you save something in a certain format, doesn't mean that is what appears on the screen to you. You have to go back into your computer and find the file that you saved and open it so you can then edit it in the format that you need.

I hope this makes some sense and can help. I know it can be frustrating and time-consuming to work with the software (been there), but your page is UNIQUE and ADORABLE!!! Don't lose the faith!!

The easiest way to poke a hole is when you still have the file open that has all your layers....that's because one of the layers has the frame and then you can easily use the magic wand to click inside the frame on that layer to get the opening selecting. Then you just click on each layer under that layer and choose Edit > Delete. That will delete the selected area on each layer all the way down to the background paper and thus revealing the transparent background you started with.

Love all the pages and the ones posted this morning inspired me to look at them all again. I noticed there weren't any with the scrolly frame and so I gave it a shot myself, but I'm not sure how to punch a hole in something like this.

Briarwood...you still have your original working file with all the layers, correct?

briarwoodpups
01-13-2009, 12:02 PM
Yes, I still have the working files. I guess the question is do I just draw a square in the middle of the green background mat and put the hole there? I know it sounds silly, I just get a little spacially challenged sometimes. I should have just tried it a couple of ways to see what makes sense.

briarwoodpups
01-13-2009, 04:04 PM

Ok, with your .psd open, the key is to select the layer that has the doodled frame on it. If you then select your magic wand and click inside the frame you should see marching ants all around the inside of the frame. That's the area that needs poking thru. With the marching ants showing, now click on each layer under the doodle frame and choose Edit > Delete and that should delete the area within the marching ants from that layer leaving everything else on that layer alone. Then go down to the next layer under the frame...you do this all the way to very bottom layer. Now if you don't see the checkerboard that means you didn't start with a transparent background. You should be able to double click on that bottom layer to change it to a regular layer away from a "background" layer and that should then cause the checkboard to show thru. Please let me know if this doesn't work for you :)

Hi all! Thanks so much for all your participation! I've been under the weather so I haven't been on the computer much and thus haven't been able to assemble the album yet! I plan to do it over the weekend :)

Wow!! Andrea, you really have outdone yourself with the gorgeous girl grab bag templates!! How generous. This QP exchange was my first EVER contribution to this or any other forum, and I have been working hard ever since. I have 2 beautiful princesses and with Andrea's princess templates, and Holly's beautiful Miss Priss kits and Add-ons, how could I refuse? I was hooked, and now I am addicted to this site. I cannot say enough about GDS and what a supportive community you have here. I love it!!

Looking forward to all the beautiful QPs (amazed at how many) to come and Holly's Miss Priss alpha, but we will be patient Holly, take care of yourself first. Feel better, and thanks so much to both you and Andrea for an AWESOME exchange!!

This was my first exchange, but I was wondering if we broke some kinda record of pages submitted for this exchange.....would be interesting to know. Thanks.

there certainly were many pages, more so than typical! But wouldn't you believe, we have a brag size exchange (6"x4") that had nearly 100 pages! Crazy!
