Join me for a Holiday Quick Page Exchange with my new kit Traditions-Trimming The Tree (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_dnld_info&products_id=3170)
http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/shop/images/large/_alisha/omaat_trimmingtree_LRG.gif (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_dnld_info&products_id=3170)

Not only do you get every submitted quick page for your album, you get these fun pages created by me!!

Lots of fun pages to make your holiday scrapping quick and easy.

Each participant will submit at least 1 quick page but not more than 2 using this kit only (but you may include any commercial use supplies as well).
Sign-ups are requested for this so that we know who is working on pages. Post here to say you are planning on participating.
Layouts should be created and saved at 12" x 12" and 300ppi starting with a transparent background.
If you are familiar with creating a quick page in a transparent .png file, please submit it in that format.
If you are not, we have a couple of tutorials to help you in this area: Paint Shop Pro (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1399)& Photoshop (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1385)
If you are unable to create a .png file, please design your quick page by creating your layout and using a white or black area (whichever is of most contrast to your layout) for the photo placements. Save your layout as a flattened .jpg file at full resolution (unless you are submitting a png file already). Please share this file and then post in this thread that you need help poking the holes for the pictures and I will help do those for you.
Please name your files as follows to help me track these easier. YourForumName_KitName_QP.png so as an example, mine would be onememory_trimmingtree_qp.png.
Save a preview of your quick page at 600x600 and upload it to the Quick Page Exchange Gallery (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=570) for all the oooohs and ahhhs!
I will need the .png or .jpg file at the full 12x12 size for each quickpage you submit. Please do not upload the preview to the QP folder below.

***NEW***: In an effort to get you the albums much quicker after the exchange is over, we're implementing a new way for us to share the files.
- please upload JUST THE FULL PNG FILE to Trimming The Tree QP Exchange Folder (http://www.4shared.com/dir/10419497/df8ab215/Trimming_The_Tree_QP_Exchange.html)
- toward the bottom of the screen you will see an "Upload Files" small window. Click the browse button inside there and navigate to your PNG file and choose that to upload.
Your computer will then upload the file so it may take a minute or two. After the upload is completed, you will not see anything in this folder even to tell you it was successful but I'll let you know if there's a problem.
Please post here that you uploaded so I can make sure it came through OK.
Once the exchange is over, I will figure out who hasn't uploaded or has a problem with their files and when all is good will make it so that you can see all the files that everyone uploads and then you can download them!
The submission deadline for this round is end of the day on Friday, November 28th.
The deadline to upload your zip is Sunday, November 30th.

I surely do not know if I did this right or not. I made two pages. This is the first time I have ever made a QP but I love this concept and wanted to try it. I had to make them in jpg. I colored the cut-out areas and they are obvious, but I do need help making them clear.

I posted my page previews in the gallery.

Those are very lovely pages. You did a great job!

I can try to help you but I only know Photoshop Elements. I have Photoshop Elements 6.0, if you have another program maybe someone who knows that program can help.

Here's what I do:
1. I start with a transparent background. That's a must!

2. Then I build the page but, behind the picture areas I place either white or black using the shape tool. (whichever contrasts more with what I am working with)

3. When I have the page finished I uncheck the items that overlap the photo areas so that they are no longer visible. For example, the poinsetta leaves on your layout and the inner shadowing. If nothing overlaps the photo area then you can skip this step and the next.

4. Then I select Layer<Merge visible (shift ctrl E)

5. Then I use the magic selection tools to select the white or black picture area and hit delete. This usually highlights the entire photo area that you don't want, I delete that and the area appears transparent.

6. Then I turn back on the visibility for the items that overlap the picture areas.

7. Save your file as a .png for quickpage exchanging.

Good luck, hope this helps! I'm sure everyone does this a little different. I just know the way I do it!

This is very helpful. I use a program called PhotoDraw. I love the program and it works in layers. It is easier for me to do things in it than in Photoshop. I want to learn Photoshop, but that is in my future. In PhotoDraw it saves as a .mix so it can't be viewed in all programs. I couldn't save as a png so I saved as a jpg. What shall I do? :frown:

11-18-2008, 04:58 PM
Well, in that case,
I'd save it as a jpg and make the photo area easy for others to extract out with a magic selection tool. It's easiest to remove a solid color. Also, too many things in front of the photo area will make it difficult.
Good Luck. Have fun scrappin'!

FYI in case you wanted to get elelments at a discount: Costco has photoshop elements 7.0 on sale for $49. online and in the stores.

I really enjoyed working on this lo but am sure glad we are making these into qps so I can really do a better job by using pictures of snow. Christmas is getting closer and we have snow now so it will be a lot easier to get the kind of pictures I really want to make this qp a better showcase.
I think all the scrappers who have sent in their lo's and qp's have done a marvelous job.
Here's mine:

I just uploaded my qp to 4share. I hope I did it right ????

12-06-2008, 02:39 PM
I've sent out the links and boy is this album cute! You guys are gonna love it!
4shared is having a bit of excitement so if you are having trouble downloading any of them try these things and then email me:
1st: try the download button a few times. It almost acts as though it wants the password again, but doesn't ask for it. Mine finally worked that way.
2nd: from the list of pages, click on the name of the page (ie: omaat_trimmingtree_bb1) and it will take you to a little preview page that has a download button. From there it looks exactly the same as before but mine worked from that method.
3rd: try another browser. I've downloaded them from Internet Explorer and Firefox and they do work.
If those all fail, please email me and we'll find a way to get them to you!!!
