I am thinking about the kids costumes and I have no idea what to do. Deagan is going as a fireman .. he loves his firetrucks. Allysen was going to go as a dalmation. Of course mommy was going to pimp it out with a tutu costume that I was going to make. I think that I am going to change my mind and have her go as mother nature and deck her out with a tutu "princess" type. I made her costume lastyear .. many compliments as well as making Deagans. I am going to list them on ebay since I can get more than what I had in them. Scarecrows and Candy Corn Princess homemade are looking pretty hot LOL!! Anyone else having costume problems. I like to make them early .. that way I can take their pictures before the big night.
SOOO.. what are your plans for your halloween costumes thie year?

My kids have the meanest mom! I refuse to spend money on halloween costumes...my kids have to make do with what they can scavenge from around the house. I know I am a big scrooge but I HATE that (with 6 kids) we end up spending nearly as much as Christmas after all the candy, costumes parties, trick or treating, blah, blah, blah.

That being said (sorry, didn't mean to rain on the parade LOL), last year my 15 year old put together from around the house a nerd (herself), a witch ( 7 year old), Cindy Lou Who (6 year old), Little Red Riding Hood (5 year old), and a Black Cat (2 year old). The baby respectfully declined to be dressed up. LOL. They were pretty fantastic looking too!

Thank goodness for my Sophie!

Any kids out there without mean moms?

In 5th grade I dressed up as a picnic table. My mom cut a hole in a box for my head and covered it in a red checkered cloth (the box, not my head, hehe!). She got a bucket and some tableware from KFC - I'm sure for free, and attached it to the table. It was a little tricky manuvering thru the school hallways, but it was cute.

I'm still undecided about this year. I'd love to make a costume, but I thought about having him be a monkey (Curious George) and DH can be The Man In The Yellow Hat, and I'm not scared to dress up like a banana. I don't know if I can persuade DH or not!

My mom always made our costumes, and we turned out okay :) And Jenn, with 6 kids, I can't imagine doing it any other way!! My sister was a bunch of grapes one year - black leotard and purple ballons safety pinned on.

The October issue of Family Fun magazine has some cute home made costume ideas. Here's a link to their costumes if you don't get the mag.

I love this one! I was going to do a Lego theme for his bday, but I might have to do this instead:

I could post pics all day - they are too cute!

For the price of 1 costume I could buy a whole outfit for them which they can wear many times...so Im with you Jenn. I only have 1 left who might dress up but hes at the age where hes not sure about it. Last year he said he wasnt but the last minute decided to be a king.

That's why I make my kids costumes. Ally's cost me $12.00 lastyear with the material, buying her tights and headband. She wore the tights several times during the fall season. I had around $10.00 in Deagan's. I went to a thrift store and bought an old pair of overalls. Bought some fake leaves and sewed some material on them. Bought some felt and glued around the bottom and the top of the overalls. My mom found a longsleeve flannel shirt at goodwill. I then glued felt around the arms of the shirt .. PRESTO .. he was a scarecrow! Some of those scarecrow costumes are going for $50-$60.00 on ebay. I would never pay that much LOL!!

Sounds like you're all going to have fun with Halloween this year! I really wish we did it here! I'm definately going to have to have a Halloween party at my house for the kids so they can dress up too! We don't even have much of a selection of dress up clothes here, so I will have to make their costumes.

Any good ideas for twins?! Last year they were Luke and Leah (star wars lol) the year before Jaydan was a cowboy and Raven was an Indian. Their first halloween they were still in the NICU but we dressed them in preemie pumkin outfits lol.

OMG ..Christy,I would have so much fun with twins! Pebbles and Bam Bam,Ketchup and Mustard, Rageday Ann and Andy, Dorothy and one of the Wizard of Oz characters,Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf .. the list can go on and on. That is why I was thinking about doing the Fireman and the Dalmation BUT I think that I am changing my mind to Mother Nature for Allysen.

When Amy can decide what she wants to be I'll make her something. It will get tons of use as she is a real dressy up type of girl .... I will say this, it wont be a princess or a fairy .....last year she was a race car driver. We got her a lightning McQueen suit which doubled as her sleep suit during the winter.

Look at those 2 cute pumpkins .... totally adorable.

Christy, it looks like we got the same onesie only mine had green trim instead of black...our kids must be close in age as these pics were also taken for Halloween of 2005!
The second pic looks like she ATE a whole pumpkin...LOL:laugh:

I took these pics and then decided to make her an angel costume anyway which is what we used! =)
