Hello, Ladies,I have finally gotten the courage to try and learn my camera and start using manual. I have been reading Brian Peterson's Understanding Exposure and he is all about the metering. So I've been having a go at it. I figure if I use the histogram after taking a pic it would show me if I'm over/under exposed. Now here's where I run into my issue. Learning to edit, on the histogram, I know my darker pixels are on the left and my lighter pixels are on the right. To me that would translate to:over exposure/right, under exposure/left. But in reading the manual (not very helpful!) the meter bars are:over exposure/left, underexposure/right totally counter intuitive to what I know. So my question is this: Is the histogram flipped in the D40 then? Or is it the same as it would be editing pics?
Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
