Ok, ready to set another record???? This exchange will use Helen's Mom's Diner (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_dnld_info&products_id=1405) to make your pages.

http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/shop/images/large/he_momsdiner_LRG.jpg

At the end of this exchange, all participants will receive all submitted brag book quick pages including these special ones created by Helen.

http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/shop/images/he momsdiner bb exchange preview1.jpg

We have an added bonus for you if you use anything from Helen's new Mom's Diner Add On Products (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/shop/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&keyword=mom%27s+diner+add)

http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/shop/images/medium/he_momsdiner_addon1_MED.jpg http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/shop/images/medium/he_mdaddon2_MED.jpg

you will receive will get a 16 page MINT TIN album from Helen. It is a Ready-to-embelllish one - that allows them to flip/rotate/flip/rotate - and then embellish with all the little goodies in the kits. The 14 inside pages basically are equal to 56 pages if you rotate and flip them that you. You can only get it by participating in this exchange!

http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/shop/images/he momsdiner bb exchange preview2.jpg

We have yet another bonus for you! If you use any of Andrea Gold's Recipe Brag Book Page Templates (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_dnld_info&products_id=1573)...you'll get this set of pages created by Andrea :)

Guidelines:

NEW GUIDELINE: to guard against folks being able to take previews uploaded to the gallery and turn them into quickpages without participating in this exchange, please save all of your submitted pages onto one blank canvas and save that as a preview jpg. Here's an example of a preview that Nancy implemented.

http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/photopost/data/704/thumbs/nancyrwa_loveydovey_BB_Preview.jpg
Each participant will submit at least 1 brag book quick page but not more than 3 using this kit only (you can include any commercial use items if you wish)
Layouts should be created and saved at 4" x 6" and 300ppi.
If you are familiar with creating a quick page in a transparent .png file, please submit it in that format. If you are not, we have a couple of tutorials to help you in this area: Paint Shop Pro (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1399) & Photoshop (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1385). If you are unable to create a .png file, please design your quick page by creating your layout and using a white or black area (whichever is of most contrast to your layout) for the photo placements. Save your layout as a flattened .jpg file at full resolution (unless you are submitting a png file already) . I will take what you submit and punch out the areas for photos and convert them to transparent .png files before sending them all back to the participants.
Please name your files as follows to help me track these easier. YourForumUserName_KitName_bragQP.png so as an example, mine would be HollyS_momsdiner_bragQP.png.
Upload your preview to the Brag Book Page Exchange Gallery (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=704) for all the oooohs and ahhhs!
I will need the preview .jpg, and either the .png or .jpg file at the full 6x4 size sent to me. You may use any file sharing site of your choice, or you can zip it up and email me the zip at ghswartz@comcast.net.
Sign-ups are required for this so that we know who is working on pages.
The submission deadline for this round is end of the day on Tuesday, March 25th. Please be sure to send me the files by that time as well so that I can publish the album download links more quickly.

Oh I'm in on this for sure, love Mom's Diner and the add-on's, just did a layout using the add-on's only, the elements and papers are just as awesome as the Mom's Diner Kit. Okay now I'm off to get the templates from Andrea's store and we know that she is the template Queen so how can you go wrong with this combination. Love the posting bonuses.

This is GREAT!

I'm using Andrea's recipe templates right now- taking all of grandma's old recipes and redoing them so everyone in the family that wants them will have copies. They are SO old that many of them list Oleo as an ingredient (if you know what that is, you're laughing along with me!)

Helen's kit looks like it'd be perfect for this project too. I think I'll be in for this!

Well, I had a lot of fun with the last Bragbook Exchange and the posting bonuses for this one look too good to pass up ! I must admit though, I am surprised that anyone would "steal" a preview and use it as their own. It is disappointing to think that you have had to change the guidelines to cover this misuse. I always wondered why people posted previews with words all over them, but this is obviously why. I must be a little naive 'cos I never thought that this would be a problem. Oh well ! I am still going to join in and have fun. If someone is so hard up that they need to take mine and make it their own... so be it ! cheers, Caroline

Oh sweet! Helen's original kit was lots of fun and the add-ons look spectacular. And you can't go wrong with Andea's templates! This might just be the project to take my Grandma's recipes from copies and redistribute them to my sisters and cousins. Hmm, I might actually get Christmas presents done on time this year if I get started with this, lol!

03-13-2008, 10:53 AM
I *think* you still have to save one as a PNG at 300 ppi to email Holly.

The jpg preview will be "saved for the web" so it won't print at high quality.

I think they set it up that way so that everyone regardless of what program they use, can also use the files. On elements, you can just save as and change the file type to PNG, so it takes no time at all. HTH!

WOW - I can't believe the response so far with this exchange - the last one Andrea was in on - had over 90 pages - I think this will TOP that - the rate it's going -

don't forget - you don't have to have the pages just for recipes - the papers and a lot of the elements in these kits can be used for non-recipe related pages!

the pages that have been submitted so far are gorgeous - can't wait to get these myself!

Cec-
So glad you're joining us in this exchange! The challenges here are so much fun- you'll be hooked in no time!
I use PS Elements and here's how I punch out the photo. On the layer with the photo I select it (either using "select" or the "magic wand").

Then I delete and keep hitting delete- it'll delete all the way through to your bottom layer. If you see the transparent layer (white and gray squares) where the photo was, you're done.

If not, you can create a new blank layer (which will be white and gray squares again) and drag it to the bottom in your layers palette.

HTH!

I feel like I stumbled through these, but I'm excited to try more things. I think it might be easier to create quick pages than to scrapbook my own photos. My own photos leave me stumped most of the time. Maybe I should create a bunch of quick pages and then find photos to match them! LOL

Here are my two pages for the Mom's Diner quick page swap. I have used both Mom's Diner kit and the add ons plus both pages are using Andrea's recipe brag book templates. I THINK I have qualified for all bonuses (I hope).

My grandmother used to collect chickens like shown in the first page...I figure I will use the page to scrap one of her recipes on.

I didn't make the pages transparent because I wanted to use them for recipes.

I have a question...What are the mint tins for?

They are a great way of showing of your pics :) They are basically just another size of quickpages that fit in those little mint tins you can get at starbucks and other places. That size makes it easy to carry little layouts around and show off to whoever.

Very good question. In your case you won't need to poke any holes...yaay! You just need to "hide" the layer or layers that your text are on and then save as .png and save for web to get your previews to upload to the gallery. If you want to share the recipes with others, then unhide the text layers before saving your preview jpg files.

Loved Mom's Diner then while surfing around on the sight found the exchange. I wasn't sure where to sign up and I'm getting this in... in just the nick of time.
This is also the first exchanged I've participated in... so be gentle :) Thanks!! Here they are... http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=26004

Tick Tick Tick! Can't wait until the next one. I don't have a lot of time to work on layouts, but this is fun. I love contributing, and then getting all the B-E-A-U-tiful pages youall have done. Can we get a hint as to the next kit?

I was about to go to bed and it popped into my head that I should have posted a link here for my recipe and QP in the gallery. I wasn't sure how to do it, but I think I figured it out. Just go look at it and then copy/paste the address, right? We'll see... I really meant to make more than just one, but I barely got that one done. I know even less about using PS than I thought I did. Here's the link- I'm wondering if just pasting works? Uh. :twitcy:

WOW - I LOVE all the brag book pages. I have to catch up on my comments. I was diagnosed with diabetes last week and have been kind of MIA for a while - getting used to my meds. Good news though - I am only borderline - so not too bad - caught it in time to just change my eating and exercising and sleeping habits. ugh!

I will be getting my parts to this to Holly - asap - hopefully tonight or tomorrow. If you have not sent your pngs and previews to Holly - please remember to send them to her. She can't distribute until we all have our stuff in to her.

HUGS again to everyone who participated - I don't know what the final count was - but there's a LOT of pages in the gallery - WOW!!!!!

Sorry....my guess is that Holly is waiting on all of the pages from the people who participated. Andrea and I sent our pages to Holly - so I know she has our stuff.

Will check into this. Thanks for your patience - will get back to you.

It is a LOT of working getting these many pages put together and uploaded somewhere...there were a lot of pages submitted...I've done these exchanges before without near that many pages submitted...and they took quite a few hours to organize. 8-)

Thank you Sharon! You are quite right....In my defense, I spend many hours a day doing stuff in the background for this site since I'm a partner and I try my hardest to keep on top of these exchanges but sometimes I'm just not able to turn them around as quickly as I wish due to a variety of things. Should have the album distributed in the next day or so. Thanks for everyone's patience!

Holly,

This is my first exchange so I can only imagine the time it takes for someone to stay organized with participants, what kits/templates they used, and pull everything together. Thank you for taking on that job....it was fun for me and I learned a bunch!!

I am very grateful that someone takes the time to organize these swaps. I would hope that the participants understand that it takes time to collect all the files and organize them into downloads. Not to mention that you do have a real life too!! Everyone needs to be patient, after all good things take time! Thanks for all you do.

It would have been nice to have recived this reply from you Holly when I wrote you a few days ago, but instead you just ingored my message.

And I had projects waiting for these pages - but now since they are so late - I have had to "scrap" that idea and move on to plan B. This was my first quick page exchange at goDigitalScrapbooking and it has left a very bad taste in my mouth so to speak. It will probably be my first and last one at goDigitalScrapbooking.:confused1:

I also agree that these will be well worth the wait. Think about the time it took to get out previews done and the files zipped- then multiply that by what??? Let's say 25 people participated and only made 1 page (and I'm betting it's more than that)...
Holy moly that's a TON of stuff to check, rezip and send out. I can only imagine how much time Holly spent on this project alone.

Thanks Holly! :)

This was an awesome challenge...sorry I missed it. I'd like to see these put up for sale to purchase if enough participants willing to share/donate their submissions for the cause. It could make a good charity kit if participants willing to submit their entries and GoDigital willing to donate proceeds to a good charitable cause. Add the extra bonuses given to participants ie mint tins-quick pgs, etc. and charge more. Just a thought, and it would satisfy the cravings of those of us that were too wimpy, tired, busy, sick, whatever to try!!! The national diabetes associations are always looking for funding for their research and could donate the proceeds in Helen's name.

Yes that sure would be nice. We would have to get approval from each participant before embarking on something like this.

First a big thank you for all those who helped create all this great stuff. Second thanks to Holly who had all the hard work of getting this all together and back out to you.

Next item I'm more than willing to donate my creations to charity. I think that would be a great idea.

1st question one file doesn't seem to want to load in PSE organizer although its preview shows up. I'm assuming its a PSE issues but was wondering if anyone else had any problems. Its gist page 3.
2nd - Most cards are png's but a few are jpgs. Since I'm new to all this I am assuming that you would open them the same and just create a type layer and save the same way you would use a png. If there is any other special instructions I'd appreciate a heads up.
3rd - For the PNG that have writing like journal here how is that dealt with. I know on PSD file you just delete the layer. I haven't tried them in editor yet as I'm trying to get some other stuff done right now but any tips would be helpful.

These are probably dump questions but I figured there may be others brand new to all this that might need the same information.

And again a huge thank you for all the effort that went into this project. I had a lot of fun thanks.

I just tried to open it up in PSE and it wouldn't open for me either. Will check in with Kim (griest) on this.

Yes that will work. For every other exchange I make sure we have pngs. But for this one where no photos necessarily had to be put under a layout so a .jpg would work.

We have a report of one set where we have journaling and we don't have the corresponding and valid pngs for so I'm working on getting those.

To resolve all these I will be assembling another zip with just the corrected files in them and will distribute as soon as I have the files from the two participants.

Helen,

I knew there were more I wanted to thank so I appreciate the reminder to thank Andrea and Helen as well.

And I'm glad my questions weren't too dumb. I figured the no picture thing made the jpg's work but I wanted to check.

I have a project in mind for these but I have some time. My oldest is hoping to get a job in Africa and when he spent a semester there in college he actually called home once to get my Mac and Cheese recipe. So I figured this time I would send him with a set of recipe cards which would be a lot cheaper than call to the US. Of course I'll have to make 2 sets. One with American temps and measure and a second with European-Metric temps and measures. I figure if I make two sets I'll have a set for the rest of the gang when they move out and Jacob can switch back in a few years when he returns.

Of course so far he's working on the application so I have time.

I have so many great files, and not nearly enough storage for them all.
(but it sure beats having scraps or paper and glitter everywhere! LOL)

Thanks so much ladies for all the submissions, and Helen, and Andrea, and Holly, and... WOW there are a lot of people involved here! Thanks to you ALL!

Next time I would donate them to charity, as well. I don't think that anyone would have a problem with it.

That kindof sounds like an idea for a new challenge all together... like a monthly album for charity...using the collab kit! And choose a new charity each month!

Thank goodness for you guys that the phone rang and stopped my rant. What I meant to say was ... Great Idea, tripplescoop!

Thank you everyone who loved participating in this exchange.

And I love the idea of selling them and donating the proceeds to a charity.

If I can make a suggestion, if this kit is used for that, I would like the proceeds to go to the autisum fund that Debra and Holly are helping out with - for their niece. Autism is one of the fastest growing areas of concern for our children, and it so desparately needs financial help in its funding.

Whatever Debra and Holly want to do is fine with me. I have no problem with my pages or bonuses being sold with the proceeds going to a charity fund.

HUGS to all!

This has been the first swap I've participated in and it has been very rewarding and fun for me. I wish I had contributed more to it, but I keep procrastinating and then try to learn how to use the program at the last minute... (just like my entire life!) I want to thank Holly for all her hard work putting everything together and Andrea and Helen for their artistic endeavors and generousity with freebies and bonuses. You all rock!
I have an embarrassing little confession to make. You might think it's funny. I thought that Jody's three brag book pages were only in Mac format. I double-checked to see if there were pc pngs further down in the group and everything, but nope! The problem was that I looked after my own name - JulieBee - forgetting that Jody2 would, of course, come before my name. DUH! I was just about to ask about that on here when I finally spotted hers. Thank goodness I didn't let you guys know how unobservant I am... wait.. I just did. :eek1
