WordPress Questions

Does any of you know where I can find a tutorial or something on how to design the layouts. I swear I'm about ready to beg someone for me.
I need to get away from Livejournal because I can't control the side barno where near as much and adding the links as the are on LJ SUCKS.

I can read and understand and even alter Worpress codes...it's making one Widget Ready I amtotally lost on
