My father-in-law and family is really needing some prayers today and over the next few days.
He is a wonderful guy, but likes to keep very busy, so, yesterday found this 80 year old man up on the roof shoveling off the snow despite our January thaw and he fell off and is in really rough shape.
Broken hips, pelvic, nose and scraped up face requiring stitches. He also has some rib damage. Not sure all the complications right now but there are many concerns because of his age, like blood clots, lungs, etc.
My DH, already down in the dumps because of the economy slow down and the impact on his business, is looking miserable.
Relationships with his Mom and sister have kept everyone at odds with each other for quite a few years. Luckily when I called his brother to get info for passports, I was able to reconnect DH with his bro, Dad and my DS for a hunting trip this fall.
But yet relationships are very strained so that makes it all that much harder...so any prayers for Jerry would be so appreciated.

Oh Kathy how awful, it's great to be independent but sometimes it's better to ask for help. I will definitely keep him in my prayers and pray too for a speedy recovery. Please keep us updated on his condition.
Hugs to you

Eighty years old and up on a snow covered roof. You have to admire and want to kick him at the same time. My prayers go out that all the broken parts may mend and that his family will be able to put their problems aside to support him.

Prayers being said over here. I second what the others have said - amazing to be able to be up on a roof at 80!

I'll be keeping you in my thoughts! Hugs to you and your family.

Must be something about men as they age---my father (73) would do exactly the same thing if we had snow here!

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. DH left a couple hours ago as they are allowing family into intensive care in at noon.
He hasn't called with any updates yet.

I'm so sorry Kathy, falling is always scary, especially at such a fragile age. I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers ...

I'll continue to keep you all in my prayers. Maybe this will be a blessing and bring them all closer. The Lord does work in mysterious ways. ;)
