View Full Version : Best pocket camera

I want to get the family a small pocket camera but am kind of clueless as to which one is the best. We had one last year that DD and I stood outside Best Buy the day after Thanksgiving at 3:30am to get but when she left it at an out of town friend's house, it came back broken but usable, barely.
I want one that has rechargeable capabilities. And lower end is good. Any rules of thumb as far as stats goes?

I just got this one:
a couple of months ago. I'm pretty happy with it. I've always gone with Fuji for my point-n-shoots. I like this one 'cause it's small enough to fit in my pocket, has really good shutter lag, it takes videos, and it didn't set me back and arm and a leg. The quality is good (not like my Rebel, though, but certainly good enough for snapshots). It's got several shooting modes (including a manual one, but honestly, if I was going to go to the trouble of shooting in manual, I'd pull out the DSLR ). It does have rechargeable batteries - the charger actually hooks up to the camera itself so that's kind of cool. It doesn't have a very big zoom, so the reach isn't that great (which I wouldn't expect with a camera that small anyway), but other than that, I like it. It's my third Fuji Finepix camera (wore one out and lost the second :twitcy:)...

Thanks a bunch, Daphne. Looks like what I am looking for. I have never bought from Amazon before...is it a good place to save money?
