okies I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo confused

I am working on sizing the cover like it needs to be to be cropped and im lost lmao

Final: 8.5"x11" (216x279mm)
Upload: 8.75"x11.25" (222x286mm)

this is what the specs should be
but I'm a dork and can't figure out if the 8.5 is the width or the height.
I'm not sure if im doing it backwards or something.

I've got templates that are both 8.5 x 11
and 11 x 8.5 but not sure which is which.
I don't normally pay attention to all that cause i usuallt down size all mine when thier done and I won't be with theses.

if the book is taller and it is wide, then the 8.5 is wide, 11 tall.

if the book is wider than tall, then 11wide, 8.5 tall.

just depends on the orientation of the book.
