Hello and in need of help

ok so as i said in my hello thread i just started making digital kits
now my question is, when saving a template i know i save it as a psd or tiff
but do i merge then save or do i save as one file with all the layers still visible?:stupid:

Hi, the template needs to be saved with all the layers in tact so that the user can insert their stuff. PSD and PNG are most helpful.
