Precepts and Promises

Hello my scrapping friends! I hope you have had a wonderful holiday and are ready to scrap some memories with me, tomorrow, Monday, December 26th.

We will meet in the chat room at 4PM Pacific, 7PM Eastern. Hopefully, that will give you enough time to either get dinner (leftovers?) in the crock pot or clear up afterward, depending on your time zone.

I will be back with a template for you to use, so watch this thread for notice of when it's up in the store and a coupon code to download it. And, then we will do a little scrapping and a lot of chatting!

I'd love to have you there, Donna!
I've just finished the template, but I'm beat. We have indeed rejoiced and made merry, and it's nearly done me in! So, I'll be uploading the template tomorrow morning.
Good night!

I will try to drop in tonight. We are rearranging the living room once the tree is down and that means a PC disconnect, but necessary so that I can have a better creating space! :D:love-smiley-011:

I hope to see you both, but I fully understand if you can't make it. I am staying close to home today and so far, I've been very, very lazy! I think I used up all my vim and vigor the past 3 days!

me too -- have spent the past few hours working on a project with my daughter she got for Christmas (thanks grandma!) -- it is a little treasure box where she has to "sticker by number" and there are over one hundred of them.
she did a good job though.
so, i think i deserve some scrap therapy later :)

Thank you for the template. Does this mean we're about 2 minutes from beginning? I will try to pop into the chat room. I have had some trouble with that feature operating correctly for me.

i am in the chat room now

Precepts and Promises

OK, we've begun!
Here's the first step:
Open the Christmas Template, duplicate it, renaming it as you'd like, and then the close

the original.
Pick out two solid-color background papers, one dark and one light. The lighter paper can

have a monochromatic design if you'd like. Place the darker one on the first (bottom-most)

layer, and place the lighter paper on the upper (smaller layer). Clip this paper to the layer.

(Pipe up if you're new and aren't sure how to do this!)
Save your work!

Precepts and Promises
12-26-2011, 03:09 PM
Step 2)
Pick out two more papers for the paper block and paper strip layers. These papers

should coordinate with your first two, but they can have more of a pattern to them. Add these

to your layout and clip them to their layers.
Now pick out a paper for your journaling mat and clip it to its layer. If you'd like to add a pre-

made journaling mat, that's just fine, too!
Save your work!

Precepts and Promises
12-26-2011, 03:17 PM
Step 3:
Pick out a paper for the frame and clip it to the frame layer; or you could use a multi-photo frame of your choosing.
Pick out your 4 photographs, edit them, and insert them into the frame. If you don't know how to do this, let me know; I'll be glad to help!
Save your work!

Precepts and Promises
12-26-2011, 03:30 PM
Step 4)
Add some brushwork, a glitter swirl, a paint splatter, or something similar to the background, under the paper cluster. You can use the brushwork I provided; you can recolor, add a layer style, etc. too. Make sure that this element is peeking out from underneath the papers.
Save your work!

Precepts and Promises
12-26-2011, 03:41 PM
Step 5)
Add your journaling to the journaling mat.
Clip a paper to the date strip layer, or add a date strip of your own. Type out the date.
Save your work!

Precepts and Promises
12-26-2011, 03:50 PM
Step 6:
Add your title; you can type it out, use an alpha, or use a pre-made word art.
Add some stitching to your layout; you could use the stitching provided.
If you'd like to add some elements to your page, do that now.
Save your work!

Add your shadows. Save your layout, post it to your gallery, and then link up in the forum thread for this speed scrap.

Clipping doesn't work in PSE6, so that woulda been an issue for me. Still like seeing what all of you did!

I had PSE 6 before upgrading to 8, and I was able to clip (or group) papers to shapes. Just make sure the paper is above the layer with the shape, and then press Control + G and viola'!
You can also hover your mouse on the line between the paper and the shape and click your mouse when the courser turns into an overlapping circle.
Are you on a PC or mac?

I love hats like that for kids! I made my granddaughter a crocheted pumpkin hat, and an ornament hat, too.

Still, you guys did some great pages! Off to leave love in the gallery.

Hi Barbara,

Thank you for the speed scrap. It was a lot of fun.

Was this to be posted in a particular gallery?

By the way, how do you get the big picture of the layout to link to the layout?

Here's what I do:
1. I right-click on the image in the gallery, grab the Copy Image Location, then come back to my post, hit the "insert image" button, paste in the code, and hit enter.
2. Then, I go back to the gallery page, copy the URL of the page from the address bar, and come back to my post.
3. I highlight the image, THEN hit the "link" button, paste in the URL, and hit enter. It turns my image into a link.
4. Usually, I hit the "switch editor mode" button (the one with the two A's on it at the top right of the posting box) to get just the code and not the actual image....it is just easier for me to see. Then, when I want to see the actual picture again, I just hit that button again.

Hope this helps!

You did a great job on your layout! Thanks for hanging in there!
You can post to your own gallery; to get the larger photo, make sure that you've uploaded a 600x600 pixel image. Then, click on the thumbnail of the image in the main gallery to get to the specific page for that image. Then, just right click, etc. like Wanda mentioned.

Thank you, Wanda and Barbara for the tips. I'll try that next time. I always like it when I can click the layout image to go to the layout in the gallery. I wanted to do that for mine too.
