I am so excited and happy -- I will need some scrap

OMGosh Cathy, the stars just aren't aligning for you for Speed Scraps right now! I think I'm going to host one at the end of the month, so hopefully, it will work into your schedule. I know you've missed Bingos too, so I'm looking for one in the evening. Perhaps we should check our schedules!

And remember our Dreaming of Summer sale that gets you in the mood for summer activities including beach time and vacations! So there you go....

I'll give you 7 steps over the next hour (every 10 minutes or so) and then you'll have an hour after that to finish your layout and upload to our Speed Scrap gallery.

Remember to post often in this thread to increase your chances of randomly winning a $5 coupon good for anything in my store!

And to keep up, the Refresh button in your browser is your friend!!!

As always, I'm always open to creative interpretation and I'm not going to count your items to make sure they match the steps given! So relax and have fun...that's what it's all about!

here's step 2:

Step 1: Choose one background paper and one solid or lightly textured paper
Step 2: Choose a border (ie. Curved or some shaped border but not stitching) that stretches one side of your paper. You can choose to lay the border horizontal or vertically on your layout but it should be flush up with the edge of the paper.

HollyS
01-26-2011, 05:19 PM
Holly, what do you mean by stretching the border of the paper?

I was envisioning a curvy border that have been trendy the past several months. Usually the straight edge side of the curvy border has a width of 12" so its stretches the length of one side of your paper.

Darlene Currie
01-26-2011, 05:19 PM

And now for the answer your paper questions:

Step 1: Choose one background paper and one solid or lightly textured paper
Step 2: Choose a border (ie. Curved or some shaped border but not stitching) that stretches one side of your paper. You can choose to lay the border horizontal or vertically on your layout but it should be flush up with the edge of the paper.
Step 3: Frame or mat your 3 photos

I find travelling can teach you so much - you learn new cultures, meet new people - I love it! Wish I could afford to do it more.

I'm glad you said to tuck the photos in Holly, because that's what I naturally did.

Next to the last step!

Step 4: Tuck the photos under the border so they are peaking out from the border
Step 5: You can choose which paper to use as your background and which to clip to your border to take on the shape of the border as best to work with your photos.
Step 6: add any embellishments you wish but include something vacation themed

Darlene Currie
01-26-2011, 05:51 PM
So no limit on the amount of embellies?

altimasport
01-26-2011, 05:51 PM

no limits!

HollyS
01-26-2011, 06:00 PM
And here's your final step:

Step 1: Choose one background paper and one solid or lightly textured paper
Step 2: Choose a border (ie. Curved or some shaped border but not stitching) that stretches one side of your paper. You can choose to lay the border horizontal or vertically on your layout but it should be flush up with the edge of the paper.
Step 3: Frame or mat your 3 photos
Step 4: Tuck the photos under the border so they are peaking out from the border
Step 5: You can choose which paper to use as your background and which to clip to your border to take on the shape of the border as best to work with your photos.
Step 6: add any embellishments you wish but include something vacation themed
Step 7: add journaling or wordart and date your layout!

You have until 11:00pm eastern to upload your layout to the speed scrap gallery! Can't wait to see what you all create!

Good luck and have fun!

I need some help with the concept of "vacation themed". I am doing a trip to Mackinaw Island on the ferry. So . . .??

Darlene Currie
01-26-2011, 06:06 PM
Laura - I'd picked out my photos and they were fishing trip/summer holiday of my cousins. So really, I think you can interpret it any way you want. I know my kit I picked is not your "typical" vacation kit.

Well, it was a bad idea to do a Speed Scrap in CS5 as my first project. I looked at some tutorials yesterday, but obviously didn't get far enough! I have to quit in order for some of my preferences to work that I thought I'd saved. Oh well, live and learn! Will be back . . . in a (long) while!

You could always do waves and just add birds flying and greenery in the waves. Trying a different angle sometimes works. I find if I have something stuck in my brain and can't find what I'm looking for, it's time to take a different path. Be creative. It doesn't have to be a total "holiday" theme.

It's incredibly easy to load all those right from within CS5 ... not nearly as difficult as Elements ... once you get the hang of it, you're really, really, really gonna love it. I thought I'd never get the hang of it ... Andrea's classes helped tremendously.
