Oh, I am so ready for a SS.

I will either be very happy tomorrow or very sad as we have a meeting to determine who gets to teach what tomorrow. Either way a SS will be a very nice diversion.

hello, jd! it's ALL about the digi scrapping, so you'll feel right at home! enjoy! (what's your name?)

Thanks! I am so excited!!!! My name is Jess and I have been scrapping for nearly 8 years; started out as a paper scrapper and then when my DD was born in July 07 I became a digi-scrapper. I still do some paper, but rarely!

Welcome jd6405....certainly digi-scrappin' is ok for the speed scrap. Look forward to seeing your work tonight.

Hehe... Since January 2008, so just over a year.

I can't remember month/year personally but I think it's been about a year and a half for me. I have a default design style "if it's in the kit....use it, lol" but I have been re-training myself to use a more simplistic style of design because they are the LOs I end up liking the most.

This is my 2nd speed scrap and what I remember from the one I did, they should give basic instructions. Generally the host will give a certain instruction every 10 mins....i.e. pick out 2 papers....go grab 3 different elements, etc. and when the last instruction has been given you then have 1 hour to complete your LO and get it posted iin the gallery & linked up here. Hope that makes sense. And btw, congrats on jumping in so soon to do this....it is the very best way to learn. WELCOME to our world!!!

Hey girls - it's almost time! It's supposed to start at 9pm EST, but I saw the newsletter said 8pm EST (that was a typo) Sorry!! I would go ahead and start but I don't want to punish the people that won't be here until 9pm....

Anyway, go ahead and get your 3 photos ready!

Want another hint?? This SS is going to be a little bit different for the $5.00 gift certificate to my store. Normally I give it to a random post, but this time it is going to the person who's LO is closest to my inspiration LO! I am going to give more specific instructions for your LO this time... You can still do your own interpretation as always, but if you follow my instructions the closest and your LO looks pretty much like mine....you get the $5.00!!! Of course, I'm not going to post my LO until in the morning and then I will find the winner!!

See you in a bit!!!

OK!!! Here we go!! I will give the first instruction and then I will come back and post the rules for all the newbies here!!! Welcome!!! Welcome to everyone!!!

1. Get 3 papers - 1 plain (not patterned) paper and use this for your background. Then 2 patterned papers, crop 1
into a rectangle and place it in the middle of your page vertically and (if possible) do some sort of distressing
to the edges. For the second patterned paper, you can actually use an already made mat (if the kit you are using
has one) or clip your paper onto some sort of rectangle shape mat or fancy edged shape and then put that paper on top
of the rectangle paper in the middle!

Wow!!! I'm so happy to see so many of you here tonight!!! If you are new, this is how this works!!!

Every 10 minutes for the next hour, I will give an instruction for you LO. At the end of the hour, you will get your last instruction and then will have 1 hour to complete your LO and post it in the gallery and link it to this thread! I will give you the link at the end. That's pretty much it in a nutshell...and in case their is any confusion...we will not be in the chat room...we will only chat here, in this thread in the forum!

If you have any questions about what is going on, just ask!!!

In case you missed it, this SS is a little different! To win the $5.00 to my store, you LO must be the closest to my inspiration LO (which I am giving you instructions for)! The instructions I am giving tonight are MUCH more detailed then usual! That is because I am trying to get your LO to look a certain way, so in the end, everyone's LO's should look pretty much the same!! (I hope!)

We will see how this goes! Have fun everyone, and good luck!!!

Hi. This is my first speed scrap. I'm michelle - glad to be here with you all!

Chanin
05-29-2009, 06:12 PM
OK - trying to get up to speed here for you! Here is your next one!

2. Get your 3 photos (you might already have these if you got my hint!). Put a white stroke around each of them. Make one of them your "main" photo. This one should be in color and bigger than the other two. Place it in the middle of your rectangle, near the top, but not touching the top. Your other two pictures should be smaller than the main picture, but about the same size as each other. Make 1 of them black and white and put it on the left bottom of the main picture at a slant to the left. The other smaller picture should be in color and place on top of the other 2, pretty much in the middle of the page, but low enough so you can see your main picture and put it at a very slight slant to the left.

Hi there sara?
i guess clipping or using masks depends on what software you use

sometimes what I do to avoid clipping or taking lots of time in a SS
is to use the rectangle shape ( i think that is what Chanin said in the instructions) and place some fun things underneath, like swirls or flourishes, or even the edges of flowers or circles. then when I have those just showing a bit of something on the outside edge of the rectangle, I will merge all the layers into one piece.

after that you can recolor it, clip a paper to it, or whatever

1. Main "big" picture should be in the very middle of your page but more near the top of the page than the bottom.
2. Black and white smaller picture should be to the bottom left of your big pic and slanted to the left.

Rectangular Tag: The generic, but very much appreciated rectangular tag can be found in almost every kit. It's versatility is well-known and it is often used. However, after 9:30 eastern time, it recedes into seclusion and has to be hunted down with scent hounds.

OK, since I'm using PSE 7 for the first time I have a question.
In pse 6 I could scroll the mouse wheel and enlarge my lo so I could get the details. Can't do it with my mouse wheel now. Is there a setting I'm missing?

Anna, I could kiss you. Since I'm usually on my laptop, I haven't been using a wheel mouse. Now that I know it can do this, I'm plugging one in, baby!!

I still have no idea how to do the ribbon, but I'm sure I'll figure something out.

Now, I don't have any more room under my pics to put anything. Did I make them too big????

I always enlarge my details with the looking glass about the second tool down on PSE7.

I hate my page.

Chanin

Last step....get ready...it's a big one!!!

3. Find a ribbon or ribbon wrap and "wrap" your photos together with it. Place it at the VERY bottom of your 3 photos.
You can also include your top paper into the wrap if it works out for you.

4. Find some alpha and put a title on the right side of the page in the middle. It should be overlapping your main picture, your rectangle and your background paper.

5. Get some sort of tab or little rectangle tag (or make one) and put it on the top right side or your picture and rectangle and put the date on it. Full date or just month and year.

6. Find something rectangle to journal on and do a little journaling (Sorry...I know you hate it!! lol). Then put that vertically below your pictures near the middle (a little to the right) and under the ribbon wrap.

7. That's it!!! Step 7 is a freebie!!! This was different tonight, so you only have 6 instructions!!! Yay!!

Your ribbon will be horizontal going across the bottom of all 3 pics. Kind of like the ribbon is holding the pictures together.
