View Full Version : First ever Quick Page Exchange - Briar Rose!

Everybody loves quick pages....can you imagine getting an album full of quick pages just by making one single quickpage yourself? Well, I'm hear to tell you how....

Each participant will submit 1 quick page layout using the featured kit, in this case Alice Naylor's Briar Rose (http://godigitalscrapbooking.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_dnld_info&manufacturers_id=8&products_id=313). At the end of this exchange, all participants will receive all submitted quick pages including this special one created by Alice.

http://bes.lunarservers.com/~godig4/protected/alicenaylor_briarrose_qp01_preview600.jpg

Guidelines:

Layouts should be created and saved at 12" x 12" and 300ppi.

If you are familiar with creating a quick page in a transparent .png file, please submit it in that format.

If you are not, please design your quick page by creating your layout and using a white or black area (whichever is of most contrast to your layout) for the photo placements. Save your layout as a flattened .jpg file at full resolution (unless you are submitting a png file already) . I will take what you submit and punch out the areas for photos and convert them to transparent .png files before sending them all back to the participants.

Save a preview of your quick page at 600x600 and upload it to the Quick Page Exchange Gallery (http://www.godigitalscrapbooking.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=570)for all the oooohs and ahhhs!

Please name your files as follows to help me track these easier.
YourForumName_KitName_QP.jpg so as an example, mine would be Hollys_BriarRose_QP.jpg

Email your quick page files to holly@godigitalscrapbooking.com . I will need the preview .jpg, and either the .png or .jpg file at the full 12x12 size.

Sign-ups are required for this so that we know who is working on pages.

I will keep this post updated to reflect participants and whether files have been received

The submission deadline for this round is Saturday, March 17th.

I love this idea--I have been doing a QP exchange for quite a few weeks on another site and it is really helping to sharpen my layout skills. It's amazing the different ideas peope come up with using the same kit. I can't wait to get started! sign me up!

I have never attempted to make a QP before, but I think I am going to try this one. It may or may not work.

Is there a tutorial here on making one?

If anyone isn't sure how to go about this, the way I do them is to create a regular layout, save it in layers, then for the quickpage, I delete my photo layer and any personal journalling, and save it merged as a png or jpg, whichever is appropriate.

Others may use a different way, but this is how I find it easier to work :)

Yes, I create mine as if I was making a layout. Much easier to work when you have the photos there. Thanks Joy!

I would advise zipping them up, and then using a site such as www.yousendit.com - although if you are on dial-up, I would do it overnight as it could take a while!

ckbymommy
03-13-2007, 06:11 AM
I'm not on dial up, but still had to use a file sharing service to send. My email provider only allows attachments up to 10m and my png file was 20m.

Good idea to let it upload overnight, Joy, that should help those with slower connections.

My email wouldn't send large files either so I finally sent mine from this site. It is free and works very well but only 1 file at a time. Just a suggestion.

You know Cherry, I think you should go ahead and give it a go.....this was my first try at making a quick page, and while I don't think that it's as good as the rest of the other submissions, I am glad that I gave it a try.....it's all about learning something new IMHO......:proud:

Hi there

I would like to give it a try but unfortinately I dont have the kit and dont have money to buy it now.
I DO have the add-on.
Could I just make a QP with only the add-on part????

HollyS
03-16-2007, 01:15 PM
Hi Mary, the deadline will be extended. I'd rather extend then cut it short :) I'll extend to Monday and Monday will be the day that I'll distributed the album to participants.

Carola, yes using the add-on will work :)

Helen
03-16-2007, 03:51 PM
Thanks for extending the date to Monday because of site maintenance.
I have mine done, and now just have to find time to upload and send files.
My husband had double hernia surgery today, so I didn't have time today.
He's doing fine.

This was my first quick page and it was a learning experience.
It was so hard to choose what to put on the quick page. The kit is so versatile.

Hi all,

I thought doing the quick page exchange would help keep my mind off of my husband's surgery (he's ok). But did I ever MESS UP big time! I used the wrong kit. I don't know how I used the Little Sweetheart kit from Bette Duganitz instead of Briar Rose..other than I must have purchased them around the same time and had them in the same folder after I unzipped them.
I was looking at the other quick pages and started wondering why I didn't use some of the elements on the other pages. I did some looking in my files today and figured out why.

I have an email into Holly right now to ask how I can straighten this out.
I am currently re-working the page I submitted to use the correct digital papers and elements from the Briar Rose. They were all in pinks and greens and I was working with both of them for my granddaughters album (they were coming up to see their grandpa after his surgery).

I will fix the galleries later to reflect correct credits and places, etc.
But for now, I am going to make another quick page today from the beautiful Briar Rose Kit - so that you have one from me (as promised) to go with the rest of your lovely pages...if it's ok with Holly for me to re-send her another quick page.

I am SO SO SO very sorry to have messed this up. This is my first attempt at participating online with any kind of a digital challenge - and I mess it up.
I guess my mind was too distracted with my husband's surgery. I am so very sorry.

Thank you for your patience and understanding with me. Am I a goof or what!
