Happy Fall Happy November, and I hope ya’ll have had a happy DSD!

This is Tasanee, Arizona Girl.  For this month’s challenge I was thinking about gratitude. It is where my mind is naturally turned as I anticipate celebrating Thanksgiving. I challenge you to create your layout around what you are grateful for. It could be a list, or a set of photos on the same subject matter (ie a set of photos of your mother). Don’t forget to journal and since we all love to have our layouts to receive some love, please take a moment to comment on some of the other layouts from the challenge.

Check out the forum thread for my layout. I will post it sometime this week.

Rules….

(1) You must use at LEAST 2 photos on your page and your layout must be unique, it can only be used for this challenge.

(2) Your layout also counts as one entry towards the Scrappin’7 Challenge.

(3) Use of GDS products is strongly encouraged and greatly appreciated, but make sure you give credit.

(4) Please post your layout in the Multiphoto Gallery HERE

(5) Come back to the Mulitple photo thread and post what you created, and link it to the gallery, so we can all leave you some love!

(6) HAVE FUN!

Do you all know how to link your images back to the gallery? .. If not, have a look HERE

Also… here’s how to assign keywords to your layouts to give the credit back to the designer.

Let’s see how creative you are and have fun!

At the end of the month, everyone will get a participation prize, this mini kit. If you do all the challenges this month you will end up with a fantastic collab kit “The Outdoor Life”

November 2014 PROGRESSIVE Scrap Challenge

Welcome to the November Progressive Challenge.

Howdy it’s Ginger, of Ginger’s Scraps N Pixels here to get you’all started on this month’s Progressive Scrap. This month’s theme is “The Outdoor Life”  having raised two boys and being a Boy Scout Leader for 17 years I know a little about the Outdoor Life not to mention living in rural Oklahoma.

The contributors for this month’s Progressive are, Vicki of Dana’s Footprint Design and Darlene of Studio4 Designworks.

So let’s get started and have some fun! The object of the Progressive is to complete one page over the course of three weeks by following instructions given in tasks posted each week. A progressive scrap is a *slow* speed scrap and I know lots of you like speed scraps, but may not have the time. So here’s how it will work.

On the first of each month, Prompt 1 will be posted, consisting of instructions for starting a scrapbook page that will then be built upon through additional instructions every 3 days.

The idea is to work along with the challenge as the tasks are being announced each task to be completed & posted prior to starting on the next prompt. (Once you post a prompt’s results, you’re finished. Don’t change your work for that particular prompt.)

At the end of the third week, you should have a completed page!

It’s fine to start late or catch up if you miss a prompt. Just be sure to complete & post each task before you look at or start the next one. It’s more fun that way!

I will be giving you a download that consists of either papers or ellies to work with on each prompt. By the end of the Challenge, you will have a great little kit that was created by myself and Vicki of Dana of Dana’s Footprint Designs & Darlene of Studio 4 Designwork.

——————————————————————————

So to recap – here’s the order:

1. On the first day of the month we will post Prompt 1. Then, there will be a post every three days with a new prompt.

2. Add only the items listed in the prompt given. You may add/alter shadows at any time.

3. Once you’ve posted your layout for that particular prompt, it is done and you may not go back and change it. You may only build on the previous prompt layout following the new step for the next prompt.

4. We will post the prompts sequentially in the thread. If you have missed a prompt, it’s fine to start late or catch up. Just be sure to complete & post each task before you look at or start the next one.

5. Post your layouts no later than midnight (EST) of the day before the next step is due – this will be every three days.

6. Post your layouts in the *Progressive Challenge* gallery*HERE.

7. Link your layout back to this forum thread so we can have a look at your creations and leave you some love!

8. In lieu of a posting bonus, by the end of the challenge, you will have yourselves a nice little kit.

9. This challenge counts towards the Scrapping 7 Challenge!

GDSProgr_TheOutdoorLife_Prev

Prompt 1: You will find 8 papers and 1 torn matte.  Use 1 paper as the background, another paper as 2 different sides with a space between.  Next you can use another paper or the torn matte to create a 3 layer. Creating the space and the 2 sides will make a focal point for your layout.

Brrrrrr!! I don’t know about anyone else…but Fall has officially arrived in Northern NY!!! Its ok though…it’s beautiful this time of year but sure has gotten cold!!!

Ok so we have been doing this Progressive Art Journal Challenge for quite a few months now so I think that everyone has the basics down!! So this month I am going to toss a bit of a challenge for you!!!

So I know that many people love to scrap with templates..and I have had many people ask me “Are there any Art Journal Templates out there?” The answer is well yes and no. Since art journaling is personal and you want to work with how you FEEL when creating a page, technically you don’t want to just plop papers in and clip them to template elements.  Sooooo…how are we going to do this?

Week 1: I am going to be sending you out on an expedition! In search of things for your page!!!

Step 1 :  First things first. You need to first pick a template that you want to use. One with more layers the better!!!

While you can use any TEMPLATE for this challenge (**reminder, I always forget this part…80% of GDS product por favor!**) if you are stumped and just not sure what to pick I have to recommend a couple of really great new templates for you!!!

Jill from Created by Jill Scraps has these great new BLENDIT layered templates  that make turning your papers of any kit into a great art journal background!!! Right now she has the two bundles on sale 20% OFF. I am on Jill’s CT (have been for eons!) and have used these templates and I have to admit they are kinda brilliant! (but don’t tell her I said so!! :-) )

She also has some TUTS on her BLOG that show you exactly how to use these little buggers!!!

Created by Jill Scraps Blendit Bundle 1

created by Jill Scraps Blendit bundle 2

** These are just a couple of suggestions! You can use any template you want!

Step 2: You need to pick the kit that you want to use! You can use ANYTHING…previous stash builders, your favorite scrap kit. If you don’t know what you want to use and would like to try something new I have a coupon for you!!! I did not create any stash builders this month so if you would like to work with one of my kits here is a coupon.

Coupon Code: 2chmd_50_octpaj

Expires: Oct 31, 2014

Good for one use per customer

Min purchase is  $2.50

Good on any purchase in my store (no max amount so if there are some things that you have been wanting then stock up!!!) The only exclusions are my two brand new kits Morning Mist and Autumn Art both of which are 30% off and BUNDLES which are already 40% OFF Everything else is fair game!

Step 3: I want you to use AT LEAST THREE Papers in this page. You can certainly use more (for the blendit templates you will use more) But it has to be a min of 3.

I am going to use one of my new kits Autumn Art which is more traditional scrap than art journal (*gasp!* I know me with traditional scrap??  LOL)  but I want to demonstrate that you can do it with any kit!

2chmd_autumnart_pv1

2chmd_autumnart_pv2

I want you to find the kit that you are going to use, and pick out your papers. I plan on using many papers so above is the preview for my papers. If you are only picking a couple of papers (depending on how many your template requires) make a little mini preview of the papers you plan on using to show us. (Make sure you credit the designer please!!) and then show us which template you will be using as well.  (You can also use MULTIPLE kits…doesn’t have to be just one kit..you can certainly mix and match!)

I am going to use Created by Jill Scraps Blendit Layered Template # 4

5c32db9505191d421a3239d01b93ec58.image.400x400

Step 4:  Lets make your background!! Load up your template, and hide all the photo and elements parts.  Leave just the paper parts for now!  Ok..first thing I want you to do is put in your first paper as a background. Now for your second paper, we don’t want to “stack” or just “layer” like  we do in scrap. I want you to find a a stamp, brush, or shape that you love. You can pick something right out of the kit you are using or another one. Use what feels good to you. Create a layer and stamp on that layer, hide the “paper” layer of the template as the stamp or shape, clip your paper to it..whatever is your new “paper”  Now because there is a lot of paint use in art journal mixed media you can add a paint texture overlay and clip it and use your blending modes. I am a huge fan of “multiply” when I use that it makes it cling to the texture but you usually have to duplicate and put a second layer over it and use the soft light to take away the muddiness and then play with the opacity on the multiply layer to get the right effect you are looking for!  For the next paper do the same…play with your blending modes don’t be afraid to experiment.  I use Multiply, Pin Light and Hard like all the time….and it is VERY seldom that I only do ONE layer of blending mode…sometimes I will duplicate four or five times and play around to get the effect I am looking for!!!  ***make sure you save your page so you can edit it as well!***

Step 5:  I know I am giving you TONS this week to do!! So sorry!! LOL.  When you are done…post the preview of the original template (plus credits) your little paper preview (plus credits) and your started page here and in our gallery!

Coming in the future: If you want to scope around, you will be needing at least THREE different fonts for this project!

Ok there it is…get too it!! Happy Creating!

XOXOXOXOX

Christina
